Nowadays most people are used to get everything easy and fast, this is why the use of plastic is so popular. Whenever the weather is hot, people do not hesitate in buying a delicious and refreshing ice coffee which is mostly served in a plastic container. Whenever we feel like celebrating with friends we don’t hesitate in buying six-packs of soda or beer and what do these have in common? Plastic!
We don’t really notice because we are so used to so much waste but if you put together all the cans of soda, beer, boxes of milk, the bag of dog/cat food, the cans of dog/cat food, the toothpaste tube, makeup remover pads, the shampoo or conditioner bottles, all those gloves that people are using this quarantine, all these things seems to be nothing in the moment but once you put all together is a lot, A LOT OF PLASTIC that we use and throw away without thinking where would that end up.
Every year millions of tons of plastic are produced and an estimated more than a quarter ends directly in the ocean. The negligent use of plastic is one of the main environmental problems and if we do not take measures, there will be a high risk of deterioration of marine ecosystems and, consequently, marine biodiversity.
